Below you can find a recipe for a Wild Berry & Herbal summer Oxymel.
It has been such a sweet rhythm and ritual to collect our wild berries for this special medicine. Living seasonally in tune with the rhythms of mother earth is always the deepest anchor for us that I am forever grateful for.
The recommended herbs along with the berries make such a beautiful and supportive summer medicine as they are soothing, cooling full on minerals and vitamins and this is wonderful to take on it's own or add to your summer Electrolyte drinks or it's so delicious in sparkling water!
I also look forward to using ours for winter/fall medicine to support us - and also to remember the energetic imprint of this time with gathering berries with my daughter in the forest 🥹
You can choose which herb to add and what you have access to! You can use mint, lemonbalm, California poppy or Tulsi are all wonderful!
For berries we used red huckleberries this year with wild blackberries - but you can use blueberries, raspberries or wild berries you have access to!
I used a quart wide mouth mason jar for this recipe but ofcourse you can do a smaller jar or bigger too. I usually fill my jar with plant matter about 3/4 full 🤍
Oxymels are such wonderful, ancient and simple medicine to have in our medicine cupboard for our families - and easy for little hands to join us.
I like storing them in 4oz dropper bottles but any will work!
The best option is to use a plastic lid - or you can also use parchment paper in between - ensuring your liquid does not touch the top or lid! If the vinegar makes contact with the metal it will absolutely ruin you Oxymel!
Enjoy!!
